The title is totally not exaggerated. Since there are no trains thru Laos, me and about 30 other European tourist boarded a bus that will take us to Ha Noi. But ride of our lives thats for sure!!
The bus was meant to take 20 hours or something like that, and ended up being 32 hours. God what a bus ride. The bus broke down about 11pm somewhere in the middle of the Laos jungle, and we didnt move again for 5 hours. The bus drivers were very horrible, hated tourists, and very rude!! Oh and they spoke not a word of English. Everyone was very pissed off. No one was game enough to eat the food on the way before we broke down, so we went hungry until the next morning at 8am when we stopped at some village earlier at 5.30am. Never again will I take this bus! It truly was the bus ride from hell!!! I will say that despite the problems with the bus and the drivers, Vietnam is truly the most beautifully spectacular country. I have never seen a place more prettier than northern Vietnam. Absolutely breath taking.
